Cancer Research Scientists Discover New Way to Fight Drug Resistance in Skin Cancer

According to a Nature Communications research, scientists have found a new way to combat rapid resistance to vemurafenib , a treatment for advanced melanoma, an aggressive skin cancer.

Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute scientists based at the University of Manchester, have revealed that there are experimental drugs that can block MLK enzymes that resist the tumor-shrinking effects of vemurafenib. According to lead author, Dr John Brognard, this research "paves the way for the development of drugs to overcome vemurafenib resistance in melanoma patients."
