Mapping the Homelessness Problem in America


Nonprofits, designers, and technology specialists have gathered together at the recent Hack to End Homelessness event in Seattle to visualize and contextualize the homelessness problem across the United States.

The Committee to End Homelessness King County has been tasked to work on the maps, which are based on "one night count" data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a night every year when volunteers go out and survey the street population. Mapping projects have helped bring invisible data to light, and may help homeless advocates do what's needed.
