Caffeine Intake Affects Children Differently After Puberty

Jennifer Temple, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions, investigates how caffeine intake affects young people differently.

Her new study shows that boys and girls experience different heart rate and blood pressure changes after consuming caffeine, after puberty. The study is titled "Cardiovascular Responses to Caffeine by Gender and Pubertal Stage," which will be published online in the July 2014 edition of Pediatrics journal.
