Charity group Water Is Life (WIL) is banking on an innovative technology solution to tackle water contamination and raise awareness around this problem.

WIL, together with Brian Gartside, graphic designer at DDB NY, developed The Drinkable Book, a book whose silver nanoparticle-coated pages that filters 99.9% of bacteria both educate people about water safety and also serves as low-cost water filters.

Social Enterprise Is Re-Housing Unwanted Furniture

Weston Mill-based social enterprise Surplus Rescue CIC (Community Interest Company) recycles and finds homes for unwanted furniture. To date, it has received “extensive amounts” of quality second-hand furniture including desks, pedestals, cupboards and office chairs from a former local authority office equipment – and wants to find them a good home.
