The Western Dairyland Community Action Agency has recently earned a $249,000 federal Housing First grant, a grant program intended to help the chronically homeless residents secure a roof over their heads.
The one-year federal grant will allow the agency to obtain 15 apartments where homeless people can reside. The apartments will also house nine homeless individuals and six families, and pay for one full-time case worker to assist the residents with food and medical assistance.
