Youth group receives grant for project


The YAPPERS (Youth Area Philanthropists), the youth board of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, recently received a $500 Get Ur Good On grant from Youth Service America to implement a project for Global Youth Service Day on Saturday, April 24.

YAPPERS members will conduct video interviews of Dubuque residents as they participate in environmentally friendly activities, describing how they "Do It Green" in accordance with the Dubuque 2.0 sustainability initiative. The youth will work in teams to film, edit and share the video.

Co-founders William Mann and David Mravyan devised the Sensimat during a mandatory project for their MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada. Sensimat is a device that helps manage and assess pressure among wheelchair users.
