Increasing Outdoor Time Leads to Improved Physical Activity Among Youth


In a new study to be published in The Journal of Pediatrics, researchers learned that time spent outdoors after school promotes positive moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA).

The researchers studied youths aged 9-17 years who have enrolled in the Healthy Hearts Prospective Cohort Study of Physical Activity and Cardiometabolic Health. It's been reported that youth who spent most of their time outdoors after school were three times more likely to undertake daily physical activity and had higher cardiorespiratory fitness levels.
