Cleveland Clinic Reveals Pancreatic Function Restoration by Bariatric Surgery


The Cleveland Clinic researchers, in part of the Surgical Therapy And Medications Potentially Eradicate Diabetes Efficiently (STAMPEDE) study, find that gastric bypass surgery reverts diabetes by bringing back pancreatic cell function among obese, type-2 diabetic patients.

The study is a two-year evaluation that observes bariatric surgery and intensive medical therapy effects on blood sugar levels, pancreatic capacity and bodily structure.
