Primary Care Physicians: Key Resource For Abused Women In Rural Areas?

According to Penn State medical and public health researchers, primary care physicians in rural communities do not routinely screen women for intimate partner violence (IPV).

To address this problem, the United States Preventive Services Task Force now recommends IPV screening. The researchers understand that women suffering violence in rural areas would be helped by offering training for PCPs, educating the community and enhancing access to referral services.
