Local Foundations Provide Grants to Northwest Public Radio for Bilingual News Program

Northwest Public Radio has acquired donations from several nonprofits to establish a a bilingual team to report on local news in the Yakima Valley by early 2014.

The project's initial investment comes from a $100,000 grant from the Knight Foundation, which was matched by the Yakima Valley Community Foundation. The news team will be an alliance between NWPR’s multi-station regional network and the Granger-based, Spanish-language community radio station KDNA.
