Virginia Zoo Restricts Large and Exotic Animal Care Voluntarism

The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk no longer will use its Keeper Aide program. The program enables volunteers to assist feeding wild and other exotic animals, help clean up habitats and transfer large animals from its holding cells to exhibits.

The Behavior Enrichment and Animal Resource Squad is the zoo's latest program that will have volunteers work with smaller animals.
