Many Low-Income Workers Unqualified for UI Benefits


Many workers in North Carolina’s low-income bracket will endure the benefit cuts. These cuts will diminish the maximum number of weeks for benefits and shrink the maximum weekly unemployment insurance (UI) benefit.

North Carolina has ratified a law last month stating that to receive UI benefits, UI applicants should earn a required minimum wage amount and work a minimum number of hours.
