Providence Scores $5 Million Grand Prize in Philanthropy Challenge

Providence earns the $5 million grand prize during the Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayors Challenge. The challenge was sponsored by New York Mayor Michael Bloombergís charitable arm, Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The contest required applications of innovative ideas to improve quality of life and create solutions to national problems. Mayor Angel Taveras of Providence wins over the challenge with his "Providence Talks" idea.
