Local chapters of national Greek organizations like Eastern Washington University's (EWU) sororities and fraternities have long been giving back to society.

These fraternities and sororities allot some of their time to voluntarism, chipping in small fees or running events to raise funds for various causes. According to Samantha Armstrong, EWU adviser for leadership education, most nonprofits have sprouted out from college sororities and fraternities.
