According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the number of homeless veterans has significantly dropped.
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki sees the result as encouraging news. HUD credited the reduction in veteran homelessness to the success of the HUD-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program which was established in 2008.
