Michael Perusco, chief executive officer of the St Vincent de Paul Society in New South Wales (NSW), relates the startling evidence of the growing number of homeless in Australia.

Perusco breaks down statistics of how many people living and sleeping in unsafe and risky habitation, those who are homeless under mid-30s, and the number difference between homeless men and women among others. St Vincent de Paul Society, Perusco's voluntary organization tackling poverty and seeking charity to help the needy, is using this year's Vinnies CEO Sleepout as a platform to appeal to the government to halve homelessness by 2020.
