Mass. Senate Provision to Prevent Families from Being Homeless


A Massachusetts state budget amendment consists of provisions that could help prevent many families from being homeless.

The provisions are also designed to help families secure housing assistance and emergency shelters. According to State Sen. Jamie Eldridge, more than 5,000 low-income families could lose temporary rental assistance in the next year through HomeBASE, a program that renders financial assistance to families to hang onto their homes.

The Charities Aid Foundation has set up a scheme, called the Social Enterprise Assist, that will render interest-free loans of up to £10,000 each to help social enterprise start-ups.
