Minority Children with Autism Less Likely to Receive Specialty Services

A study that will be published in the July issue of Pediatrics shows that African-American or Hispanic children diagnosed with autism were less likely than Caucasian children to have received subspecialty care or procedures associated with autism spectrum disorders.

MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) researchers conducted the study which first appeared online this month. The research team also learned that minority children were significantly less likely to receive gastroenterology services than their white counterparts.
