Sara Bleich, PhD, associate professor of Health Policy and Management and lead author, reports that in order to help prevent childhood obesity, the central focus must be on both diet and exercise in the communities where children live. Environment is a key factor that influences lifestyle and these community-based programs can help in reducing obesity at an early age by promoting healthier activities for children.
