William Schambra, writer for Nonprofit Quarterly, declares that what the world of foundations and nonprofits need is a head-to-head exchange of ideas to give way for critical thinking.

Schambra also questions how nonprofits have to re-evaluate issues and policies concerning them and the public. At this point, Schambra quoted Chronicle of Philanthropy commentator Cindy Gibson, "Rather than raise questions about this (the issue) publicly, we usually hunker down and complain behind closed doors, in between conference sessions."
