In a new study by Alliance for a Greater New York (ALIGN), there is lack of transparency across economic development agencies in the state.
Executive director Matt Ryan notes that lack of program evaluation requirements can make cost-benefit analysis difficult. Although transparency and accountability are important in economic development, the state doesn’t have full control over all development programs. Reporting requirements are needed with reform at all levels to ensure that economic development is being produced.
