Trends in Philanthropy 2013


With the recent Giving USA report, philanthropy has managed to slowly break out some trends post-recession period.

Philanthropy seems to be picking up after the economic recession ended. According to the report, charitable donations rose, arts and culture are gaining momentum, and Hurricane Sandy charities are cropping up. However, contributions to religions and religious causes are low and individual charity-giving lags behind.

Cornwall, England has been christened as the first-ever rural social enterprise zone. Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd remarked that what was happening in Cornwall was an example to the rest of the United Kingdom.
