Mt. Lebanon resident Lorraine Bridy relates her life-changing experiences when she first started out as a volunteer for Hekima Place, a nonprofit organization founded by another Mt. Lebanon-born, Kate Fletcher.
Hekima Place ("Hekima" means "wisdom" in Kiswahili) is an orphanage that offers education, nutrition, and compassion to its female residents who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. Bridy, inspired by Fletcher’s charity, is currently the volunteer coordinator for Hekima Place.
