According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the number of homeless people in the area has steadily increased by 16 percent over the past two years.
LAHSA executive director Michael Arnold determines the reduction in federal resources that result in increased rates of homelessness. The past economic downturn has left many people without permanent housing and support to sustain work and their existing homes.
