Study Finds Low-Income Neighborhoods Most Likely to Care about Their Communities


A University of Missouri study called "Which Factor has More Impact? An Examination of the Effects of Income Level, Perceived Neighborhood Disorder, and Crime on Community Care and Vigilance Among Low-Income African American Residents," suggests neighborhood residents have higher levels of community care and vigilance.

The researchers conjectured that folks with higher incomes care more for their communities. Surprisingly, their findings show otherwise. The study appears in the Race and Social Problems journal.
