Cuba Embraces Cooperative Model for Economic Development

More than a hundred new cooperatives commenced with operations within the construction, transportation, recycling and marketing sectors.

This is part of a new initiative that that targets cooperative management in activities among the various sectors. The cooperatives will play an important role in bolstering the economy of the country. However, the state companies will perform the primary responsibility, says Ruben Toledo, member of the Commission for the Implementation and Development of the Guidelines adopted by the Communist Party.
