Metcher finds that more affluent communities attract poverty. He notes that Coffs has an urgent need for more crisis accommodations and joint efforts with the local council, the business community and state and federal governments. The Salvation Army rounds up a hundred people are "sleeping rough" on the Coffs Coast in any a given week.
