Alameda County has a new tool to take photos of issues surrounding the locality. The tool is a smartphone application called Mobile Citizen with a real-time response.
The smartphone app enables citizens to shoot pictures about dire situations in their iPhones and Android phones and send it with GPS coordinates picked by their phone. Deputy Director Rick Ruiz thinks that this kind of technology kicks starts a deeper sense of civic engagement.
